The warm sunset sails back to the dock after practice never get old.
With ideal sailing conditions in Miami and Biscayne Bay, UM is the perfect place for a collegiate sailing team. The team currently practices from the United States Olympic Sailing Center in Coconut Grove.
College Sailing has its own governing body, the ICSA (Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association), and our team is part of the South Atlantic District (SAISA) which includes some of the most competitive sailing programs in the country like Charleston, University of South Florida, Eckerd College and Jacksonville University. The team also travels to several inter-conference events each semester to compete against the best college sailing programs in the country.
In addition to our fleet of eight 2016 Zim Flying Juniors (FJ's) the team also practices in a fleet of eighteen 2017 Club 420s, giving the program access to the two major fleets in college sailing. The team also has 4 dedicated coaches from the Miami sailing community, including a former 3-time All-American and a 2009 US Sailing Coach of the Year.
The coaches at the University of Miami are some of the best in the country. Our diverse talent stems from Collegiate All-Americans to a US Sailing Coach of the Year. Located in the heart of Miami, we have some of the best sailors in the world frequently joining our practice along with occasional guest coaches.
